Privacy Policy — Equity of Us

1. Introduction

Equity of Us ("we", "us", or "our") is a relationship app designed to help couples build habits, track commitments, and stay connected. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

Account data: When you create an account we collect your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive only the name and email Apple chooses to share with us.
Profile & relationship data: Display name, content preferences (topics of interest), and your couple pairing (a shared ID linking you and your partner).
Commitment & habit data: Titles, descriptions, frequencies, completion dates, and consequence options you create.
Reflection data: Text responses you submit to daily prompts.
Consequence ledger: Records of consequences assigned and fulfilled between you and your partner.
Push notification token: Used solely to deliver notifications you opt in to.
Usage data: We may collect anonymised crash reports and performance metrics to improve the app. We do not sell or share this data.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the app's features.
To sync your data across devices and with your partner.
To send push notifications you have opted in to.
To process subscription purchases through Apple's in-app purchase system.
To respond to support requests.

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage & Third-Party Services

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a PostgreSQL-based backend), hosted on infrastructure that complies with SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 standards. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).

In-app purchases are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive your full payment information.

We do not share your personal data with any other third party unless required to do so by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@equityofus.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable law:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
Opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal data, so this right is already satisfied.

7. Children's Privacy

Equity of Us is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
