Terms of Service — Equity of Us

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Equity of Us ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Equity of Us.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Equity of Us. By using the app you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@equityofus.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not create more than one account per person or use another person's account without their permission.

4. Couple Pairing

The app includes a pairing feature that links two user accounts. Both partners must consent to the pairing. Either partner may dissolve the pairing at any time through the app. Upon dissolution, shared data (commitments, consequences, reflections) remains accessible to each individual user in read-only form.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
Harass, abuse, or harm another person.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our systems.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code.
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the app.
Submit false, misleading, or defamatory content.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Equity of Us offers optional paid subscription tiers (Growth, Premium). Subscriptions are billed through Apple's in-app purchase system and are subject to Apple's Terms of Sale.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You may manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's App Store settings.

We do not offer refunds outside of Apple's standard refund policy. To request a refund, use Apple's Report a Problem process.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and trademarks in Equity of Us are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Content you create (commitment titles, reflections, etc.) remains yours. By submitting it you grant us a limited licence to store and display it to you and your paired partner.

8. Disclaimers

Equity of Us is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.

The app is not a substitute for professional relationship counselling, therapy, or medical advice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Equity of Us shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [YOUR STATE], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of [YOUR STATE].

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
